The Bronze Mirror

Poem inspired by the image on this book cover – a bronze, Lakonian mirror with the figure of a nude woman comprising the handle.

The Bronze Mirror

Here –

There is a mirror.

The glass is missing but the handle remains.

Bronze. Darker than skin –

But reminiscent.

I cannot touch it.

I cannot reach it.

Tarnished. Broken.

A museum piece –

Nothing more.
